Biography

DJ Vic Money is a native New Yorker "that grew up" in Manhattan's Chelsea district. Being a participant in the growth of both the hip-hop and house "music scenes" in the city he's developed a unique and original perspective on dance music interpretation.

Some of the prominent night clubs of this era in New York City were the Paradise Garage, MKs, Save The Robots, The World, Red Zone, Mars, 1018, Funhouse, Bentley's, The Underground, Palladium, Tunnel, Limelight, Twilo, .and on and on. Being a regular patron of these venues and more not mentioned helped shaped both his selection and appreciation for all genres of dance music.

During this same time period dance music was quite prolific on commercial New York City radio and such greats as Tony Humphries, David Morales, Timmy Regisford, Kenny Carpenter, and Bobby Konders (when he played house) could be heard on the on the air waves regularly. This too helped educate and determine Vic Money's personal style of dance music selection and programming.

It wasn't until 1988 when he attended the University of Pittsburgh that he began "playing out" in front of large crowds. While in college he became the Dance Music Director of the University's college radio station 98.5 WPTS, introducing the first Dance Music show to Pittsburgh's radio waves at that time. Due to the popularity of the show he launched several successful DJ nights in nightclubs in the Pittsburgh area. Eventually this lead to the grand opening and residency of the now infamous Soba Lounge as well as guest appearances at Metropol, Rosebud, and Pegasus in Pittsburgh.

After Leaving Pittsburgh in 1998 he headed for New York again for a brief one-year stay and eventually ended up in Chicago. While in Chicago he played with local DJs Mark Grant, Boo Williams, Freak, Marc Buxton, and Dayhota (Super Jane) to name a few in popular venues in the city. Again, a new town and new "flavor" helped expand his appreciation for dance music and versatility in programming.

Leaving Chicago in 2000 he immediately came back to New York City and made his presence be felt on the scene. The techniques and skills acquired abroad helped him land a residency on New York City's 10 th ranked commercial radio station 98.7 Kiss FM WRKS for their "Kiss Club Classics" weekly dance music show. Scheduled DJ sets to date have coupled him up with the likes of Jon Cutler, E-Man, Camacho, Tony Humphries, Lola, and Timmy Regisford to name a few.while playing in some of the cities more prestigious venues.
